Update: Shelter Services

Our shelter services are changing! Here’s what you should know right now.

Visitation Hours Are Available

Beginning Thursday, July 15, Willamette Humane Society will have visitation hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Use our visitation hours to visit adoptable pets, ask questions, and otherwise visit us. We can’t wait to see you!

Appointments Are Required For Most Services

Know that you will need an appointment for activities such as adopting a pet and surrendering an animal. Currently, the shelter is offering appointments Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We can’t guarantee open appointments during our visitation hours, so you will need to plan ahead.

Pet Adoption Services Start With a Visit to Our Website

To adopt a pet, please visit this page for the step-by-step process. We’re using a new system called Adopets to drive our adoptions. That means you don’t need to visit the shelter to be first in line to adopt a pet currently waiting at the shelter. You’ll fill out an application right from your phone, tablet, or computer. The Adopets system will mark your place in line.

We discovered today (July 26) that our calendar system hasn’t been operating properly.

If you’ve applied to adopt an animal, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. There’s no need for any action on your part. We will be in touch. We’re so sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding and kindness during this time!

Animal Surrenders Require an Appointment

If you need to surrender an animal or bring in a stray, please schedule an appointment with our Customer Service Team by calling and leaving a message at 503-585-5900 (select option #1) or by emailing info@whs4pets.org.

Masks Aren’t Required for Appointments

The Governor dropped mask and social distancing requirements statewide, and we’ve changed our processes accordingly. We are no longer requiring our staff and volunteers to wear masks, and we’re not asking the community to wear masks during their appointments, either.

Other Shelter Services Are Available

We are here to help and support you:

The well-being of our animals, our staff, our volunteers, and the communities we serve remains our top priority. Thank you for your continued understanding, support, and cooperation. You can support shelter pets during this time by purchasing an item from our Amazon Wish List or by making a donation.
