Shelter News and Alerts
Visitation Hours Are Available
Beginning Thursday, July 15, we offer visitation hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Use our visitation hours to visit adoptable pets, ask questions, and otherwise visit us. We can’t wait to see you!
Most Services Start with Appointments
You will need an appointment to adopt a pet, surrendering an animal, or bring in a stray pet. We offer appointments Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
We can’t guarantee open appointments during our visitation hours, so you will need to plan ahead.
To adopt a pet, please visit this page for the step-by-step process. We’re using a new system called Adopets to drive our adoptions. That means you don’t need to visit the shelter to be first in line to adopt a pet currently waiting at the shelter. You’ll fill out an application right from your phone, tablet, or computer. The Adopets system will mark your place in line. We’ll be in touch to make an adoption appointment.
To surrender an animal or bring in a stray, please schedule an appointment with our Customer Service Team by calling and leaving a message at 503-585-5900 (select option #1) or by emailing email@example.com.
Please Wear a Mask
Due to the resurgence of COVID-19 in Oregon, we are following the guidelines of the Oregon Health Authority and requiring masks for all staff and volunteers. Please wear your mask over your mouth and nose while inside the shelter and the Thrift Store. Please wear your mask outside if you can’t maintain six feet of social distancing from people outside your household. Thank you for your understanding.
Other Shelter Services Are Available
We are here to help and support you:

- The WHS Spay and Neuter Clinic is open by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We are performing spay/neuter surgeries for free-roaming, unowned cats by appointment.

The well-being of our animals, our staff, our volunteers, and the communities we serve remains our top priority. Thank you for your continued understanding, support, and cooperation.
