Planning to schedule a feline spay or neuter procedure soon? Please note that Willamette Humane Society no longer offers free spay and neuter surgeries for owned cats in the 97301 area code as of this month.
A generous grant from PetSmart Charities made this program possible, but funding requires that a majority of the grant be allocated for stray cat procedures. We have reached the maximum of procedures for owned cats allowed under the grant and will no longer be able to offer this free service to owned cats in the 97301 zip code. The WHS Spay & Neuter Clinic will honor the appointments already scheduled.
Please note that we are still offering this package for all free-roaming and stray cats in 97301. If you or someone in your neighborhood are feeding stray or feral cats, please call us for an appointment at (503) 480-7729 or (503) 585-5900, ext. 313.
The Marion Polk Community Cat Program (MPCCP) is an innovative partnership bringing together four local animal welfare organizations, including the Willamette Humane Society, to better address the overpopulation of stray, feral and free-roaming cats in our communities through free or highly subsidized spay and neuter surgeries. In collaboration with PetSmart Charities, the program helped provide approximately 2,051 spay and neuter surgeries for owned and feral felines in the last Fiscal Year.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank all of you who have taken advantage of this program. You have helped greatly in reducing the cat population in Salem!
