Volunteer and Foster

Volunteers makes what we do at Willamette Humane Society possible every single day! From walking dogs and spending time with adoptable cats, to lending a paw at shelter events and helping at the thrift store, there are dozens of ways to get involved as a shelter volunteer. Or would you prefer to help out from home? WHS is always looking for new foster families for care for temporary pet placements—including kittens and puppies, as well as senior pets and animals recovering from medical complications.

The WHS Thrift Store

Did you know that when you shop at the WHS Thrift Store, you are supporting shelter animals? Stocked with an ever-changing assortment of quality clothes, shoes, accessories, household goods, books, antiques, and more, it’s always a treasure hunt at our shop in downtown Salem. Community Events

Youth Programs

WHS is passionate about helping young animal lovers in our community become the next generation of responsible, compassionate pet owners.
