After a hiatus of a few weeks, the cat blog is back! And I have four very special kitties to tell you about this week, including one long-term resident and two overlooked black cats.
Let’s get started!
Calm Kitty Snoopy
First up is the adorable Snoopy. He’s 6 years old, and he’s as handsome as anything. He knows it, too. Look at how well he poses for the camera!
Snoopy was found as a stray cat, so we don’t know a lot about his history. But unlike some kitties I could name, this guy is ready to leave his past behind and move on to a healthier future. He is a bold cat, and he’s right up front in his kennel and ready to greet his visitors. No hanging in the back for him. He wants to make sure you notice him.
Snoopy really loves attention, and he’ll respond to your pets and your voice with purrs, kneading, and rolling. Someone must have loved him very much, since he’s so trusting and open. If you’ve been hoping for a bold cat that won’t hide from you when you bring him home, Snoopy might be the cat you’re looking for.
Since he was a stray, we’re not sure how he feels about life with dogs, cats, or kids. But we can help you understand how to introduce him carefully, and that might help the transition to roommates go well.
Sweet Cat Twilight
Next up is 4-year-old Twilight, and she is a hero cat. She’s hoping a family will recognize her qualities and give her the perfect home she’s been longing for.
Why is Twilight a hero? We’re glad you asked. This sweet cat came to the shelter very pregnant, and she raised her kittens like a pro. Then, two abandoned and motherless kittens came along. We introduced them to Twilight, and she raised those babies too. We’re so thankful for kitties that can step up and help others. We couldn’t save so many kittens without helpful momma cats like Twilight.
Now that her work is done, Twilight needs a home of her own. She has so much to offer. She’s a little cat at 7 pounds, so she’s just the perfect size to fit in your lap. She is amazingly friendly and will wind her way around your legs to get your attention. She loves to be petted, and she displays no swatting or nipping behavior. She just wants to give and receive love.
Twilight is living with other cats now, and while she does fine with them, she wants to be the boss. She is a born momma, and she wants others to respect her. Mellow cats that will let her be in charge should be just fine with her. She has shown extreme fear around dogs, so we’re recommending no canine pals for her.
We hope you’ll come to see her!
Long-Term Resident Cat Doc
Looking for an older cat with the playfulness of a kitten? Come to meet Doc. He’s 4 years old, and he’s been waiting for a home since March. We’re hoping his long wait can come to an end very soon.
Doc is struggling with shelter life, and he has a hard time showing families how wonderful he is. This kitty is so fixated on getting out the door that he can ignore his visitors. And when people try to redirect him to look at them, he can nip.
In a home, Doc is described as calm, loving, independent, and playful. He’s had three homes during his short life, and every family describes him in the very same way. This seems to suggest that he is consistently loving in a home.
But in the shelter, it’s all about playtime for this guy. He wants to chase a wand toy, bat a ball around, run from place to place, scratch on a cat scratcher, and more. We’ve tried to introduce him to other kitties to help him work off energy, but he plays too rough and too often with most other cats. He worries them, and that isn’t good for anyone.
We’re hoping someone can take a chance on this young cat. Perhaps he can go into a home as an only cat, and maybe he’d like a catio or leash walks. Maybe he’d like to spend supervised time outside. Maybe he’d just need dedicated playtime.
It’s hard for an active cat to wait so long for a good home. Can you help Doc?
Ebony Beauty Magic
The last kitty I’d like to share with you today is Magic. She’s about three years old, and she really is a gorgeous little kitty. She poses very nicely for photos.
Magic came to the shelter as a stray cat, so we don’t know a lot about her history. She was adopted quickly and we were all thrilled! But she wasn’t happy in that home, so she came back to us for a second chance at forever happiness.
Magic is very sweet and calm, and she loves affection. She won’t come up to solicit time together, but she doesn’t run away when it’s time for cuddles and love. She does seem to want her own time and space. In her last home, she got upset when she was sleeping and quiet and the humans wanted time together. She will need savvy people who will respect her calls for privacy (but most cats do).
Magic doesn’t seem to prefer children. She does well with other cats. We’re not sure about dogs.
That’s it for this week! If you see a kitty on here you love, come down to visit. They go faster than you might think is possible! And if you don’t find someone you love, remember: This is just a sample of the cats we’re trying to find homes for. There’s bound to be love within our walls.
If names are underlined, the kitty is still up for adoption. Click that link to find out more about age, price, etc. And if you feel compelled, click the “sponsor” button to help support this kitty’s stay. Thank you!
