[toggle title=”Urgent Help Needed”]Please consider volunteering time on Saturday, October 24th. We need help with Check-in/Data Entry/Check-out
(4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.) We still need at least two more volunteers to make it work, since our auction support guy usually takes a volunteer station. It’s a big 5 hour job, but if you’d like to pitch in, we will provide a roasted vegetable dinner that evening, a Bentley’s Coffee voucher for a free beverage, and a free adult beverage at the end of the night!
Email meredith.kuhl@whs4pets.org ASAP to get involved!12082659_10154326204320021_2028862654_o
[/toggle][toggle title=”Best Foot Forward!”]Notice any changes in the volunteer areas? We are working on some cleanliness in all public areas! Could you help us? Please put all writing utensils back in their appropriate containers, add spare dog treats to the new treat bucket on the volunteer desk in the hallway, and in general pick up after yourselves! We have NO janitorial staff, so it will only get clean if we do it! Our community will only come here and give our animals forever homes if it is a pleasant experience! Please, throw away trash, pick things up off the floor, and put things back where you found them. We appreciate your involvement in this endeavor! If you have any questions about where something belongs please just ask!

[/toggle][toggle title=”Hundreds of Youtube Videos”]Have you checked out the WHS YouTube lately?!  We’ve added over 200 videos to the Green Tag Training, Red Tag Training, and Canine Rx playlists!  Don’t worry–you don’t have to watch them all!  (You’ll just be a rock star if you do!)  We hope these videos will provide inspiration and useful information to our valued volunteers!  Here’s to happy training on both ends of the leash!
[/toggle][toggle title=”Employer Give Back”]There are a growing number of employers who will donate when an employee volunteers!
So far, we know Wal-Mart, Verizon, Macy’s, Kaiser Permanente, CenturyLink/Qwest, Chevron, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Office Depot, and Wells Fargo will donate at least $250 just because you volunteer with us!  What a HUGE impact you could make on top of your huge donation of time!
This is just the tip of the iceberg!
We’d like to encourage you to find out if your employer participates.
If you know anyone who works for one of these companies, get them to volunteer!
Here’s a link you can click to check:
If you find your employer in the list it will tell you if they match gifts and give for volunteer hours.
[/toggle][toggle title=”Help Wanted”]On October 31st Kitten Kaboodle will be ending! We need help closing up shop! If you are interested and available hop on down to the Salem Center mall that day at 6pm. Pizza, and other refreshments will be provided! Thanks to everyone who made this effort a success!
We will be filming historical stories from The First 50 Years at Willamette Humane Society during the 50th Anniversary Party on Saturday, November 7.  A general invitation is going out in Momentary Paws.  As current volunteers, we want to give you advance notice and hope you will participate.   Following is the announcement that will go out:
Calling all Historians!
We want you!  We want you in the Willamette Humane 50th Anniversary Video.  Yes, we want to record any story you’d like to share.  Relive adopting your pet, your volunteer or staff experiences, or your time at Camp Paw Paw. These are just a few ideas.  It’s your story, come share.
You were part of the action.  You were part of The First 50 Years of Willamette Humane and we want to hear from you.
Videotaping will be on Saturday, November 7 from 2-5 at our 50th Anniversary Party.  To participate, you’ll sign-up in the lobby. There will be plenty of other activities for you to enjoy as well such as “Ask a Trainer”, coffee bar and cupcakes, tours, contests, and pet pictures in our professional photo studio.
The video will be sensitively edited. Depending on the number of participants, we may end up with several videos surrounding specific topics.
The 50th Anniversary only happens once – don’t let it happen without you!
Contact Susan Carey at susan.carey@whs4pets.org with questions.
Could you commit to Outreach events ONCE a month? We’re looking for some people friendly volunteers who are wanted to help regularly! Please email Katie Katelin.decker@whs4pets.org if you are interested!
Would you be willing to talk about our Trap-Neuter-Release program in the 97301 area? We need volunteers for an afternoon where we are going to go door-to-door to speak with people about our grant program. We will explain information about feral cats, our free trapping program and give free personal cat vouchers. Email volunteer@whs4pets.org to help!
We could also use some more volunteer trappersear tippy
Are you an arborist?  Do you KNOW an arborist?  We are in need of a professional trim around here and would love your help!  We aren’t in a hurry but if you or someone you know can help, head on over to volunteer@whs4pets.org and drop us a line!  You will probably need a bucket lift.   🙂
**This donation of your services is probably a GREAT tax break, we’re just putting that out there…
