I am a young, newlywed, college student and for my 21st birthday, my sweet Husband bought me the only thing I want… a kitten! It didn't take me long to choose the perfect kitten for me. I took one sweep through all the rooms and came right back to my little Dr. Bruce. Even at the humane society he was playful and loving just like he is now. He loves his brother Zeus who we adopted the same day. They are literally best friends. They like to cuddle and fight. Dr. Bruce loves his sparkly, jingly, ball and playing catch with us. He's the best kitten I could have ever asked for. Thank you to my husband, and the humane society for the best birthday present ever.

I adopted Rucifee in 2012 after falling in love with a friend's cats while I was cat-sitting. I named her after the cat in my favorite childhood movie, Disney's Cinderella. She's a sweetie though, nothing like Rucifee from the film. She is obviously loving the attention from me here in the photo (hah!). Usually she's cuddly, but that day she wanted to play instead of get loved on.

We needed to give a an abandoned kitten a new life full of love, and happiness.

My kids and I adopted Rosie at the Humane Society. We asked for the sweetest cat they had. They recommended "Jersey". Jersey had been pregnant but lost her babies. We loved her immediately and adopted her. My daughter, Kezia, renamed her Rosie. Rosie is the best cat ever, very cuddly. She likes to sleep under the blankets.

Leo and his sisters showed up one day on our porch to eat. Leo tried to come into our home but we moved him out. then we noticed that his sister was with babies 3 of them to be exact. we brought them all in and cleaned and fed them all then another sister of Leo's showed up with her little ones. again 3 of them. well we got them also cleaned and then taken too our vet to be fixed. we took them to the WHS in Turner Oregon where they were adopted out, but Leo came back.. then we went and got him to make him apart of our now family of 8 cats all rescued of course but Leo is our first adoption. With his love he makes this big family laugh and have so much fun.. and Bialu he has taken Leo in as his own boy.. how cute is that..

Juniper/Lillian

Photos of Your Pet

Me and my daughter had just gotten to petco where we found juniper and my daughter wanted her so bad. I had to work and told maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow came and I had made enough to get her when I found out a friend of mine who came into work had herd I was looking at her and bought her for us. When I got there she was all ready for us to being home. Brought her home and my daughter couldn't say Juniper so she has been calling her Lillian. Ever since she is the sweetest loving cat I could have.

we adopted sheldon to be a mouser. he has proven to us that he is a lover not a fighter! he was supposed to be a stray but he immediately proved that wrong too! he loves our granddaughters (2 yrs old) and will lay near them (or on them) whenever they are here. he is always snuggling with our dogs, especially charlie in the picture. he always has to sit on someone whether animal, child or adult! he is a great addition to our family. not sure how he is on the mouser part though... 🙂

From stray to spoiled!

Shane (Formally Falcor)

Photos of Your Pet

Shane came into the shelter as a stray. He was skinny, dirty, had thin hair and malnourished. Now he is a thriving, spoiled, HAIRY well behaved boy. He has a dog brother and 2cat siste

Happy Girl

Fiona (Formally Candy Land)

Photos of Your Pet

We adopted Fiona shortly after our beloved boy cat, Gus, passed away of cancer. This was the beat decision we could of ever made. She is the most friendly, loyal, laid back, funny cat I've ever seen. She loves to lay flat on her back in front of the wood stove, or anywhere for that matter. This is definitely one "Happy Tail"

Who says old cats can't learn new tricks? Cali took immediately to keyboarding while sitting on my lap. In addition to being a fast learner, she is also excellent at keeping my lap warm and my wrists flat, no doubt also preventing future carpal tunnel injuries. On top of that, she is very cute. What more could you ask for?

I introduced Luke into my home at the end of October, and he has been a wonderful addition to my home! He is a little over six months now, and is filled with energy. One of his favorite things to play is fetch, he will chase after pens and pencils for hours. While Luke loves to play, he also enjoys long naps sleeping in any place available, my head at night, my laptop while working on homework, and especially on a pile of freshly folded towels.

We were finally able to bring our cat to our apartment after he'd been living with my parents for a year (due to our last apartments not allowing pets). All he would do was wander around the apartment meowing, in search for his friends from my parents. We decided that we needed to find him a friend, so off to the humane society we went. After looking around we saw this kitten going absolutely nuts in his cage, and instantly we knew "THAT'S THE ONE!" Our house has never been the same since bringing that little guy home. He gets along with his fur brother wonderfully and we couldn't imagine life without him. Thanks for completing our little family! 🙂

We have lived in apartments and never could have an animal (besides mice.) We have thought about dogs and cats and decided to check them out. I went in to look at the cats, I saw a few that were cute and special. Yet when Bleu saw us she meowed really loud and started to lick my hands. I knew instantly that she was the one I wanted.

We did what needed to be done that day and she came home with us the following week. She is so spirited, very feisty, and loves to play. It took her awhile to become happy with her life, she spends her days sleeping, eating and playing.

Caring cat

chrissy

Photos of Your Pet

We adopted Chrissy 2 years ago she has been my daughter Ashtyn's constant companion since. Chrissy can be anywhere in the house and when it's time for bed Ashtyn can call her and she comes running. If Ashtyn is upset Chrissy is alway there when she's feeling bad. We were delighted to add her to our little family.

This is Monkey. He is probably 5 or 6 months old. We brought him home last October And he keeps us all busy. When he isn't climbing up walls and furniture he is planning his next ambush. He love to play and his 5 year old human sister and him play all the time. They run taking turns chasing each other from one end of the house to the other. Thank you Willamette human society for our newest family member he has found a forever home.

Thank You!

Clara

Photos of Your Pet

We did not actually adopt Clara... some very lucky folks in Oregon did. But this is a Happy Tail for us because my husband and I found Clara wandering lost in Maui last October. As tourists, we were out for a drive and came across Clara pacing in the middle of the road, desperately looking at each car that drove past. She was scared, dehydrated and absolutely heartbreaking. We stopped the car and with the help of another couple, loaded her up. We knew she wasn't a danger because she ran to us, tail between her legs, wagging furiously. Her collar was still on but leash broken. She immediately jumped over the back seat and tried to sit as close to us in the car as possible on the hour long drive to the Maui Humane Society. By the end of the drive she was calmed and starting to doze off... hopefully knowing she was safe. We named her Clara, because after an hour long drive, how could you not name a sweet girl like her? We had a hard time leaving her as we had both bonded with this dog, but we could not take her (Seattle condo living with a Jack Russell wasn't going to work!). All we could do was hope that she found a new family to give her lots of love. After months of wondering and searching, we found that she was transferred to the Willamette Humane Society through the Wings of Aloha program.... and ADOPTED. We are thrilled and so happy that she has obviously found a loving home full of hugs, play and adoration. So thank you Wings of Aloha, Maui Humane Society, Willamette Humane Society and the lucky adoptees for giving Clara her forever happy home!

Jadzia came into my life unexpectedly at a time when I was very much in need of a friend. I recently lost my beloved friend of 13 years, my dog Merlin. Those who have lost beloved pets know that one pet can never replace another, but they can help you heal and provide immense comfort in times of need. As I was dealing with the painful days surrounding his passing, a friend of my mother's pointed me to the WHS website. When I found Jadzia's picture I was instantly in love! The first time we met she immediately purred and snuggled up on my shoulder. I didn't have a chance.

Jadzia is the coolest cat I've ever met. She is curious, brave, and affectionate. She loves to sleep inside my sweatshirt while I work at the computer. Her soft fur and loud purr make it extremely difficult to get out of bed in the morning!

She's only been with me for a month and a half but I already can't imagine life without her. Thank you SO much to WHS and everyone who helped bring us together!

Oliver and Xena

Oliver and Xena

Photos of Your Pet

I just wanted to thank you so much for my beautiful boy, Oliver, and pretty girl, Xena. The two of them have brought so much needed happiness to me. Not only that, but I have become friends with the wonderful woman who rescued Xena. Her name is Lavetta and she has rescued so many precious kitties and I will always be grateful to her for rescuing my Xena. Thank you WHS for all the wonderful work you do.

Oliver is a character! He is so curious, and gets into everything, including opening drawers and cabinets. He also LOVES water. He has to help me do the dishes, and loves to nap in the bathroom or kitchen sink.

Thank you again for these wonderful little panthers.

When I was seven I held a cat.
Think of that. A furry cat
A fluffy, puffy, stuffy cat
A silky, milky aristo-cat.

He’s been my friend since I was two
I saw him once and before he knew
Just what to think of a girl who’s two
I hugged him. What’s a cat to do?

We fumbled, tumbled, fell down splat,
One small girl and one large cat.
Seems gusto wasn’t quite enough
To navigate twelve pounds of fluff.

When I was three I chased a cat.
This fluffy, puffy, fraidy-cat
Behind the couch and down the hall
He’d hide and run. (I still was small).

With fur a-flounce and tail drooped long
(By now I’m four and pretty strong)
He’s on my lap in awkward sprawl,
For softer strokes and less cat maul.

I grew to five and just like that
I’d ride my bike to see my cat
My furry, fluffy, puffy chum
Perched on his ledge he’d see me come.

When I was six I went to school
(For a girl who’s six that’s just the rule)
And now this fluffy, puffy, cat
Looked out the window. He just sat

And thought about a girl like me
Who loved him once so ardently
And did he wonder where I’d been
And hope to see me once again?

When I was seven I hugged a cat
My favorite, fluffy, puffy, cat
And in my arms no twitch or stir
Just snuggle, nuzzle and soft purr.

I’m seven now.
Loved by a cat.
Imagine that.

Pepper & Millie

Pepper & Millie

Photos of Your Pet

Scott & I adopted our first "fur baby" in June of 2012 from the Willamette Humane Society. We were browsing, not really looking at any dog in particular when we came across Pepper's kennel. We were floored by her sweet nature and loving nuzzles. We brought her home and knew she was a perfect fit for our little family. She is a cuddle bug and loves to sleep under the covers with us. She made friends with my family's dog, Joy, a 16 year old Jack Russell terrier. When Joy passed away from old age, Pepper seemed lonely. We began our search for a new addition this September. We came back to Willamette Humane Society where we then found Millie. Millie is a rambunctious 6-month old puppy with a lot of energy but is just as loving and she is hyper. Pepper and Millie bonded from the beginning. They never like to leave each other's sides. They play tug-of-war, fetch, and wrestle with each other non-stop throughout the day. In both cases, we could not have asked for more perfect fur babies.

I got Marley from WHS in July of 2011 as an adult dog and she has been the most wonderful companion ever since! She is the mellowest dog ever and loves to be pet. I always joke that her quota for love and attention is infinite. She is fast friends with anyone who has a hand to pet her. She loves to go on hikes and explore, but always keeps an eye on me and doesn't wander far. The dog park is a favorite place, especially if she has the opportunity to chase squirrels. Marley is a constant joy and we are lucky we found each other!
