Recently, one of our volunteers took sweet Rosie o Recently, one of our volunteers took sweet Rosie out of the shelter to relax and unwind at a local park. It was a wet, cold, and rainy day, and while Rosie was happy to romp and play, her human wanted to try something else. Thankfully, that volunteer is also a talented photographer ( @loricegonphotography ), and an idea was born. Lori took these amazing photos of Rosie in her studio in the hopes that they help spark some interest. Isn't this dog adorable! And we're told she was a wonderful model that was calm, compliant, and easy to work with. Rosie is about 3yo, and she's a mixed-breed girl. She is active and loves to walk, hike, and run. She enjoys playing with toys and running after a ball, but she's also content to lounge on the couch with her humans when the exercise portion of the day is done. She needs a home with no small animals or small children, as she has some herding instincts that are too difficult to suppress. She does have a good history with dogs. Aw, Aphrodite. She tried a little too hard to smil Aw, Aphrodite. She tried a little too hard to smile pretty for the camera this morning. We've all been there, right? Aphrodite is an 8yo dilute tortie cat. This is her second time in the shelter, and she hopes it will be her last. Let's talk a little about what she needs. Aphrodite is wonderfully sweet with women, and she loves to sit next to her human mom. She drools when petted, accepts belly rubs, and is an all-around sweetheart. For whatever reason, she is leery of human men, and she is much less friendly to them. If she can find a family that doesn't mind her sexism, she would be happy. At some point in her life, Aphrodite was declawed on her front paws. As a result, she uses her teeth to communicate. She doesn't bite hard enough to break skin, but she has been known to nip and nibble. She needs a family to read her signals, so she doesn't feel forced to communicate in this way. She has lived with and loved dogs in the past. She hasn't lived with children, but she has been known to hide when things got noisy. A bustling household might not be right for her. She prefers a quiet home. She has no history of life with other cats. Can you give her the home she longs for? We were trying to think of the perfect photo to sh We were trying to think of the perfect photo to share with you today, and Tuna came immediately to mind. This sweet kitten is recovering from a tibia fracture, and we caught her striking a pose during a recent splint change. Because of donors just like you (including those that have given in honor of the #BettyWhiteChallenge) Tuna has the medical support and expertise she needs. And she is recovering in a loving foster home. She has a home all lined up too, thanks to her foster family. Today is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which is typically set aside for volunteering to make every community better. Foster volunteers open their hearts and homes every day to help pets just like Tuna. No matter how you give back, we thank you. Today and every day. Just a reminder that we are closed today for the holiday.
